Rogue Nation could have been a crisper film, but it nevertheless serves up a deliciously thrilling experience, especially if you watch it in IMAX. It’s a given that we go into these films, wondering what Tom Cruise will pull off next. The star-producer keeps that curiosity going and that charisma alive, and delivers blockbuster bliss.I’m going with three-and-a-half out of five for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. There’s no sequel fatigue with these movies…bring on the next one!

This fifth instalment might not be as iconic, but it is genuinely compelling. Also, as a bonus in this comic book blockbuster age, you can enter this Tom Cruise film knowing nothing of backstory or mission history, and come out massively entertained. It’s hard not to be awestruck. The 53-year-old leading man hasn’t self-destructed in five films, and I, for one, can’t wait to see Cruise lunge forth a sixth time. This is his kind of, um, risky business.

When he learns that the Syndicate plans on assassinating a head of state, Hunt brings in his old friends Benji (Pegg), Luther (Rhames) and Brandt (Renner) and their mission is to thwart the Syndicate's plans. What follows is classic MI fare with stunts galore, thrilling chase sequences, tech wizardry and more. A winsome mix of old school and new, Rogue Nation will thrill you throughout.

It’s been 19 years since the first Mission: Impossible, and that scene of Cruise’s life hanging by a drop of sweat in it is still vivid in our memory. Or the first moment when a mask is pulled off and Cruise emerges from below it. Even the last film, Ghost Protocol, pulled off a near-impossible Burj Khalifa shot apart from giving us some heart-popping moments of suspense through certain tight negotiations. You will miss that in Rogue Nation, though it ticks all the boxes, gives its woman a satisfyingly meaty presence, and has Cruise defying age again — apart from death of course. So will there be a Mission: Impossible 6? Play it again, Hunt.

While the plane stunt, the car and motorcycle chase and the underwater stunt are breathtaking, there is no moment that is jaw-dropping or spirit-elevating. These awesome set pieces are predictably enjoyable and the tale is a bit tedious and ordinary which traverses at a comfortably rapid pace. This "Mission Impossible" will appeal to Tom Cruise fans.

If you're a fan, then you're probably going to enjoy Rogue Nation - the film starts with a heady action sequence, and doesn't stop as one sequence follows another with staccato precision.Despite its flaws, there's no denying that Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation is polished to perfection. Every action sequence seems planned to the minutest detail to show off every possible angle of the action in the best possible light; and there is a lot of action. If that's all you're looking for, then this film is the superhero smackdown you need to watch. Just don't go in expecting anything beyond that.

However, despite its minute flaws, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION is high on entertainment quotient. For Tom Cruise fans, the film provides ample of 'edge of the seat moments' and is a visual treat for action lovers. On the whole, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION will not leave the fans disappointed as it is one of the best films from the franchise. If the chase sequences and gun fights are your thing, then this film is definitely worth a watch.
